Our pieces are unique, crafted with such exacting standards that they are instantly recognizable. The trust we place in our craftsmanship naturally extends to our relationship with you.

Origin: A French Maison

Designed, machined, and assembled in France, our luminaires carry forward a tradition of artisanal excellence. We collaborate with local partners and suppliers who share our values and passion for meticulous workmanship.

Exceptional Packaging

Each luminaire is packaged with the care reserved for works of art. Encased in wooden crates—identical to those used by museums—this packaging ensures optimal protection while affirming the nobility of what is delivered.

Manufacturing Method

Clearance is the art of mechanics” — Stevan Bijelic

Fosfens luminaires are designed to endure, to be passed on, and to tell a story across generations.
Each piece is crafted to transcend time with grace, in a constant pursuit of balance between technical robustness and visual refinement.

We use noble materials, carefully selected for their durability, beauty, and compatibility with demanding manufacturing processes. Our components are machined in-house with precision tools, yet it is always the hand that refines, adjusts, and signs the work.

Each piece receives a subtle, contrasting finish: satin brushing, micro-blasting, polishing — techniques that reveal the true character of the material.
Our surface treatments provide lasting protection against corrosion and scratches, while imparting a stable, deep, almost living hue to every luminaire.

Maison Fosfens

The story of Fosfens is rooted in a heritage older than the company itself.
In 1970, Stevan Bijelic, then just seventeen, left his native country for Paris. He carried with him a visceral passion for watchmaking and precision machining, an art still entirely manual at the time. Very quickly, he rose to prominence as one of the most gifted craftsmen in the capital, eventually founding his own workshop, which would become a family-run enterprise.

His creations, shaped with absolute exactitude, found their place in aeronautics, medical engineering, and the luxury sector, fields where every micron, every material nuance, carries meaning.

This devotion to precision, this reverence for a job well done, he passed on to his son, Milan Bijelic.
For over fifteen years, Milan contributed to the rise of LED technology within major international groups. But he yearned to learn another language, the language of light. As with music, his first passion, he felt the call to compose and orchestrate. That’s why he stepped away from industrial logic, to forge a different path.

Together with his wife Elena, they chose to build Fosfens in their own time, by their own rules, surrounded by their four children, to expand the Maison Fosfens in the deepest sense of the word.

Fosfens was born from this desire: to unite the rigour of precision mechanics with the freedom of light conceived as a gesture.
A phosphene is a light one perceives even with closed eyes, an inner gleam.
That is what Fosfens luminaires aim to do: to illuminate beyond the visible.

They talk about us

“Fosfens lighting has been a real revelation for JGS Décoration. We were used to distributing lights whose main quality was decorative, but with Fosfens, you also get outstanding light quality! Truly beautiful and high-performing products.”
Gary GRINBAUM – Manager, JGS Décoration

“Fosfens luminaires embody the union of absolute technical precision and a quiet, understated artistic expression. The quality of light, gentle on the eyes, warm, offers remarkably faithful color rendering. Ideal not only for workspaces, but also for all types of interiors, Fosfens brings a subtly elegant aesthetic and long-lasting user comfort.”
Georgios KONTAXAKIS – Architect & Designer

“An extraordinary evolution and tremendous performance in the lighting sector! FOSFENS covers every technical aspect of ‘artwork lighting’, and more. If my assessment as a multi-brand lighting distributor is accurate, FOSFENS stands above all the ‘Archi-deco’ on the market! The product is compelling, the LED technology is highly innovative, customization is available, and the connected control is fluid and well-conceived. ‘I dreamed it… FOSFENS made it!’ Kudos to Milan and his team.”
Olivier CHARTON – Lighting Specialist, SONEPAR LUMINTER

“A true wonder, a jewel of technology and design.”
Jean-Marie HUBERT – President, SPAT Group

“You design and build true ‘instruments of light.’ What Montblanc is to writing, Fosfens is to lighting. World-class!!”
Wim BRABER – International Sales & Business Dev. | Passionate about Light & Lighting Technology

“A well-deserved recognition for truly high-end products.”
Stéphan CLOUT – President of SC Group: SOKA, DISDEROT, SECANTE & more

“For 10 years, I’ve been looking for fixtures that aren’t just LED versions of old spots. Milan’s expertise allowed him to build something truly meaningful from the LED itself, not just a designer’s concept. And his family’s legacy adds a tangible sense of craftsmanship. It’s a shame he doesn’t make fixtures for our boutiques. But I haven’t given up trying to convince him…”
Nicolas MARTIN – LVMH Lighting Manager – Head of Environment

“A beautiful object, technical and elegant. Well done.”
Rémy CHASSAING – Designer & Drafter, DELISLE Paris

“Milan is a genius. He’s created the quintessence of light. My artworks thrive in this luminous setting, perfectly matching my expectations in every way. One word: Magic.”
Jérémie LEROUX – Painter, ENZO OTO

“Fosfens is French craftsmanship at its finest, combining cutting-edge technology, exceptional design, and fully bespoke options.”
Romain PEREZ – Manager, BAZAR D’ÉLECTRICITÉ

“These are lights that speak to the soul.”
Nicolas FOURAUX – Lighting Expert, VOLTEX

“Undoubtedly one of the most exciting revelations in French lighting in recent years.”
Virgile BRU – Lighting Expert, ILIGHTYOU

Le Spleen de Paris: “There’s something calming, even mystical, almost sacred…”
Didier DELPIROUX – Director, SERGE MOUILLE

“Magnificent.”
Yvan PEARD – Founder, AYRTON LIGHT

“We’re definitely fans! ”
Charlotte & Peter FIELL – Editors & Lighting Historians (notably 1000 Lights, the illuminating encyclopedia)

“Light magician.”

10 Must-Attend Events for Paris Design Week 2020 - In September of this year, Maison&Objet, the famous biannual design fair, will take place in a completely virtual environment. That doesn’t mean, however, that the French capital won’t have anything happening this fall. From Sept. 3-12, Paris Design Week will give visitors the opportunity to physically attend many events—all free—in different locations of the city, from Le Marais to Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Shops, showrooms, art galleries and public areas will be places to spot new trends, discover unique collections, listen to talks and participate in workshops. Among some of the highlights of Paris Design Week—which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2020 and is part of the first edition of France Design Week, organized throughout the country from Sept. 1-15—are green design, French savoir-faire and young talents, as reflected in this selection of 10 not-to-be-missed events.
In its Parisian showroom (on Passage Saint-Paul), French lighting editor Disderot will feature brands from Manufactures de Lux with lamps by Serge Mouille, Lignes de démarcation, Rispal and, for the first time, Fosfens, honoring French designers from the Glorious Thirty (1945-1975).
MILAN: Sometimes people ask me to sum up Fosfens in a single word… but that’s not so easy, is it? So Ingo, when you think of Fosfens, what words come to mind?
INGO: Ah, Milan, I’d say first and foremost it’s a beautiful family story, one filled with elegance and precision. A Maison where quality and passion can be felt in every detail. And you, you truly are an artist of light, someone who knows how to shape atmosphere with that unmistakable touch.
MILAN: Thank you, Ingo. That’s exactly what I try to do, with all my heart.

DAZZLING! - In the field of sound, it had already been an established fact for 50 years, the French have risen to the top places: Cabasse, Elipson, and more recently with the digital wave Devialet or Parrot, occupy the forefront of high definition sound and technological design. In the field of lighting, it is also young French companies that are setting the distance in terms of innovation and design. The top of the range is called Fosfens...
